Senator Dean Smith (Liberal)
Senator Glenn Sterle (Labor)
Senators serving until 2025:

Senator Hon Linda Reynolds (Liberal)
Senator Jordon Steele-John (Greens)
Comment:
At the 2019 election the Liberals and Nationals (who are not in coalition in WA) polled 2.96 quotas (their best result in the country),
while Labor polled 1.93 quotas. If repeated in 2019, this will secure the Liberals three seats and Labor two seats. The Liberals
have won three seats at every half-Senate election in WA since the Senate was enlarged in 1984, but given their very poor showing over the
past few years that is not a certainty this time. The Nationals could be a threat to the Liberals, although the Nats haven't won a WA Senate
seat since 1975. The Greens polled 0.83 quotas in 2019, enough to win the sixth seat.
All three Liberal Senators are standing again. In April
Senator Ben Small resigned his place as a result of discovering his eligibility for New Zealand citizenship. He has now renounced any possible
claim and this does not affect his ability to be re-elected at this election.
On the
Labor side, Sue Lines and Glenn Sterle have been re-endorsed. The third Labor candidate is Fatima Payman, president of WA Young Labor.
Greens Senator Rachel Siewert resigned on 6 September. The new Greens Senator is Dorinda Cox. The lead One Nation candidate is Paul Filing, who was
Liberal MHR for Moore 1990-98.
There was a huge swing to Labor in WA at the 2021 state election. This was entirely due to state issues and should not be taken as an
indicator that similar results can be expected at a federal election.
