Australian federal election, 2025
Senate election, Australian Capital Territory

(See NSW / Vic / Qld / WA / SA / Tas / NT)

Senators up for election:

  • Senator Hon Katy Gallagher (Labor)
  • Senator David Pocock (Independent)

  • Comment:

At the 2022 election, Labor polled exactly one quota, while the Liberals managed only 0.75 quotas. As a result, independent David Pocock (who polled 0.63 quotas and collected Greens preferences) defeated Liberal minister Zed Seselja. Labor's Katy Gallagher retained her seat. The Liberals will be keen to regain their seat in 2025, but their base in the ACT is now very weak and Pocock will have a higher profile as a sitting Senator. I expect him to be re-elected.

The lead Liberal candidate is Jacob Vadakkedathu, managing director at a business consultancy.
